Merlin and Associates Aviation Services Company Limited ("MERLIN") was established in Hong Kong on 1st July 1995 by Bob Ward, who has been involved in various aspects of aviation for more than 50 years and has worked closely with OEMs, Lessors, Financiers and Airlines. With a track record of successful deals and a network of experienced associates, Merlin has been serving its clients with professionalism and efficiency for more than 25 years.

      1. Marketing and sales representation in Asia for lessors or financiers of commercial aircraft and spare engines. With an insight and understanding of the market situation, Merlin has successfully closed more than 36 deals for its clients (including purchases, sales and sale/leasebacks of 38 engines and 14 aircraft)

      2. Asset Management of aircraft and spare engines on behalf of operating lessors (including asset valuation, transaction structure, repossession, refinancing and remarketing). Merlin has been managing assets for its clients - which includes coordination with Airlines on payments, situational awareness and requirement coordination for both Airlines and lessors so that the assets are competently managed and maintained. Merlin and its Associates have experience in supporting aircraft repossession.

      3. Arrangement of Aircraft Inspections – the Covid19 situation has made it necessary for lessors to conduct due-diligence inspections of aircraft and their records when a lessee’s financial performance becomes questionable – Merlin has arranged for and managed inspections of aircraft in Thailand

      4. Consultancy services to airlines regarding aircraft and/or spare engine leasing, research available aircraft/engines for lease and negotiation of commercial terms and lease documentation. With skill and experience in aircraft and engine leasing, Merlin uses its expertise to assist airlines in acquiring aircraft or spare engines. Merlin will also participate in the negotiation of lease terms and conditions and by negotiation of better terms and conditions in the lease agreements, obtaining lower costs both in rental rates and cost exposure to redelivery conditions

      5. Representation of Maintenance and Repair Organisations. Merlin has wide connections throughout Asia, these connections help the MRO target the right customers and expand their business in Asia more effectively. Moreover, Merlin can facilitate and advise its clients on the regulatory and certification requirements in each country.

      6. Arrangement of charter flights on behalf of clients. Merlin has arranged more than 1,000 charter flights for its clients in the China market from 2013 until present. Merlin also coordinates requirements for both Airlines and its charter clients so that the charter flights are successfully arranged, scheduled and operated.
